Is this for you?

Eating in, taking out, delivery, a supermarket tray or cooking it yourself. Where each one wins, and where we lose.

We do not win every line of the table below. A comparison where the restaurant wins everything is a comparison nobody should believe.

Five ways to eat sushi tonight

Cost

  • Eat in with us Middle
  • Takeaway from us Middle
  • Delivery app Highest, once fees and tip are counted
  • Supermarket tray Lowest Best on this line
  • Cook it yourself Low, after the first shopping trip

Time from decision to eating

  • Eat in with us Travel plus the meal
  • Takeaway from us Travel plus a short wait
  • Delivery app Thirty to sixty minutes, unpredictable
  • Supermarket tray As long as it takes to walk to the shop Best on this line
  • Cook it yourself An hour or two, the first few times

Quality when you eat it

  • Eat in with us Best. Rice at the right temperature, crisp things still crisp Best on this line
  • Takeaway from us Good, if you choose items that travel
  • Delivery app Variable. The rice has usually been cold for a while
  • Supermarket tray Lowest. Refrigerated rice is the whole problem
  • Cook it yourself Depends entirely on you

Choice and guidance

  • Eat in with us Widest, and you can ask questions Best on this line
  • Takeaway from us Wide
  • Delivery app Wide, with no one to ask
  • Supermarket tray Narrow
  • Cook it yourself Whatever you can make

Effort

  • Eat in with us Get dressed and travel
  • Takeaway from us Travel
  • Delivery app None Best on this line
  • Supermarket tray Almost none
  • Cook it yourself Highest

Handling a dietary limit

  • Eat in with us Best. You can ask before and at the table
  • Takeaway from us Good, if you ask when ordering
  • Delivery app Poor. Notes in an app are often lost
  • Supermarket tray Poor. Labels only
  • Cook it yourself Total control Best on this line

Two lines go to the supermarket, one to delivery, and cooking at home wins on control. That is what an honest table looks like.

If you are taking it home

The difference is structure, not price. Anything that depends on a contrast between hot and cold, or crisp and soft, loses that contrast in a closed box.

Still good after the drive

Cooked
  • Vegetable and cooked rolls
  • Glazed grilled dishes
  • Rice bowls
  • Edamame, seaweed salad, pickles
  • Anything that started out cold

Better eaten here

Raw
  • Tempura, in every form
  • Sashimi on a long trip
  • Hand rolls, which soften in minutes
  • Crunchy toppings
  • Anything that has been refrigerated hard

Sushi rice is meant to be nearer room temperature than fridge temperature. Deep cold turns it firm and chalky, and no amount of good fish rescues it.

When we are not the right choice

There are evenings when the answer is somewhere else, and saying so is more useful than pretending otherwise.

  • You have a severe fish or shellfish allergy. A shared kitchen is a real risk and we will not talk you out of your caution.
  • You need to know the exact bill before you leave the house. We do not publish a price list yet, and a guess is not a price.
  • You need a table locked in for a precise time. There is no booking system on this site, only a contact form.
  • You want the cheapest possible dinner. The supermarket tray wins that one, and it is not close.

What people ask before deciding

What does a meal cost here?

We are not going to invent a range for a website. The prices on the menu in the restaurant are the real ones, and this page will carry them the day they are confirmed.

How long does a meal take?

Ordering in rounds means you start eating within a few minutes and finish when you decide to. It suits both a quick weekday dinner and a long evening.

Can you take a large group?

That depends on the evening and on the size, and there is no capacity published on this site yet. Ask through the form and you will get a real answer rather than an optimistic one.

Decided, or still weighing it up?

Look at what is on the menu, or ask the question that is actually stopping you.
